Saidpur Village situated on the slopes of Margalla Hills in Islamabad is one of the oldest villages of Pakistan. More than five hundred years old, Saidpur Village is known for its heritage, history, and folklore. These days the village is serving as one of the favorite picnic places in Islamabad for both local and foreign visitors. The village inclining on the slopes of Margalla Hills presents an attractive view in the soft light of morning and evening.

During the Mughal era, Sultan Sarang Khan was the chief of the Potohar region. He named the village after his son, Sultan Said Khan. Later, the village was gifted to the daughter of Said Khan who was married to Mughal emperor Jahangir. At that time, the said pur village was also used as a garden resort. After that, A Hindu commander Raja Man Singh, constructed several ponds, and now the village is also home to many Hindu temples that have been preserved.

In 2008, the Capital Development Authority completed the remodeling of Saidpur into a tourist attraction by giving it the look and feel of a quaint village. The key changes that have come about include the re-doing of a temple, the cleaning up of a stream running through the village, and giving the mud houses a facelift.

The village reflects the traditional ambiance, the temple, the stones used on the walls, the stacks of hay, the horse-drawn carts, and everything else that depicts the history of the Potohar region.

In addition to attracting visitors, CDA preserved the old school Building, Preserved old Sufi tomb, Preserved Hindu temple and Gurdwara, the Nomad Art Gallery, artistic restaurants, and cafes. Saidpur village is one of the major tourist attractions of Islamabad. The village represents signs of a contrasted culture where Muslims, Hindus, and Sikhs, used to live together. After the remodeling of this village many restaurants, art galleries, and antique shops were also established there.
