Khalti Lake is located in Khalti Village of Gupis-Yasin District (Gilgit-Baltistan), Pakistan, at about 2,217 meters (7,274 ft) above sea level. Khalti lake is situated in the town of Gupis in Ghizer valley. It is located around 120 kilometers from Gilgit city on Gilgit-Chitral Road. It was formed when a glacial lake high in the mountains burst as the glacier retreated.
Khalti Lake is the source of fresh, natural water and is a natural habitat of trout. The beautiful Lake flows in Khalti village, in the tehsil of Punial, the westernmost part of the Gilgit–Baltistan region and northernmost territory of Pakistan.
The water in Khalti Lake is as clean as a mirror, and it is freezing even in summers. The Lake is filled by the melting water coming from the surrounding glaciers in the area.
