1) Snow capped Mountains

Both summer and winter the mountains of Naltar Valley are covered with snow.There are two peaks in Naltar Valley.Meherbani Peak or Palo Peak and the height of this peak is about 5,639 m. This mountain range is connected with the Karakoram Range. Shani Peak is a mountain in the south of Naltar. It lies to the west of Snow Dome and in the northwest of Meherbani Peak. To its east flows the Shani Glacier towards Naltar Valley and the height of this peak is about 5,029 m. This Peak is also known as Khaltar Peak.

Naltar Valley starts blooms at the end of March after a removed covered snow.the main attraction of Naltar Valley has caved Greenery and caved forest which is completely covered by Mountains.and the flow from North to south at the center of the greenery.It’s also one of the main attraction points.

Recently Government has constructed an 18 MW hydropower plant, Naltar Hydropower Plant-IV (operational since October 2007), near Naltar Pine, in addition to two smaller hydel power generating plants (Naltar I, II of 2.28 MW combined) already there, to fulfill the power requirement of the area as well as Gilgit. Naltar-III and Naltar-V Hydropower Projects of 16 MW and 14MW generation capacity respectively are under construction.

How to get there (Accessibility)?

The ride to Naltar starts from Gilgit after leaving the Karakoram Highway, if you are planning a tour, it is worth noting here that cars are not recommended for the arduous track that begins after you have left the highway, the vehicles that are suitable for the bumpy ride are 4×4 jeeps. However, the journey is worth taking as the beauty that lies beyond is simply spellbinding.

Best time to visit Naltar Valley

Naltar, both in summer and winters, is worth visiting. During summer there are many areas to explore while in winter the slopes are perfect for skiing and attract many people from around Pakistan.

Summer: Starting from late spring (May) till Summer (September) is the most ideal summer time in Naltar. People camp or just go for the day. One day's trip will leave you wanting more of the valley. Since it is best to at-least stay one night at Naltar. The facilities are not amazing but the view and valley is a luxury.

Winters: In winters even though the roads are a bit risky during snow yet people travel to enjoy the ski slope. The slopes are managed by the Pakistan Air Force. The roads are constantly fixed to ensure people are not stuck or facing issues.
