Taxila Museum

As its name suggests, Taxila Museum is located in Taxila, regarded as one of the significant archaeological places in the world. The construction of the Taxila Museum started in 1918 and was completed in 1928. The northern gallery was added much later, in 1998. From the 1st through the 7th century, the museum houses a large collection of Gandharan art. Nearly 1,400 Gandharan antiques are among the museum's 4,000 artefacts. A 4th-century statue of a meditating Buddha can be found at the museum. The museum houses a collection of Buddhist stone sculptures. While visiting Taxila Museum, you are fascinated by the creativity of the Gandharan people who lived thousands of years ago.
