This trek passes mostly through human settlements except for the Over Pass. The local people use them for traveling to Chitral. State dissidents and noble princes also used it. The route connects several hamlets where one can see local culture. The Zani Pass route has been a well-used one since time immemorial. Presently, Chitralis are mostly Muslims, but there are three valleys inhabited by the Kafir Kalash in the south of Chitral. Chitral is considered to be the pinnacle of the Hindu Kush region. The highest peaks and countless passes, and massive glaciers are located in the Hindukush region.
