Sunehri Masjid

Located in Saddar, Cantonment area and completed in 1992, Sunehri Mosque is one of the most beautiful mosques in Peshawar. Inspired by the Mughal architecture and spanning 18 000 square feet, the mosque has a capacity of about 6000 worshippers at a time. From its completion in 1992 to 1996, women were allowed to attend Friday congregational prayers separately, in the upper portion. Women were banned from offering prayer at the mosque in 1996, but in March 2020, the ban was overturned. The mosque took more than 45 years to complete, primarily because of a lack of funds as the mosque is sponsored by charities. The beauty of the Sunehri Mosque is that it makes you remind of the Mughal era, although the Mughals did not build it. Sunehri Mosque is frequented by thousands of worshippers, including women, five times daily. It is a very famous tourist attraction because of its Mughal-style architecture and the true story of its completion over several decades.
