Masjid-e-Tooba (Gol Masjid)

Completed in 1969 and located in Phase 2, DHA, Masjid-e-Tooba is also known as ‘Gol Masjid’ (Round Mosque). The mosque was constructed three years and had an overall capacity of about 30,000 people. There are no pillars and speakers in the mosque. About 70,000 pieces of mirror are used in its dome. Masjid-e-Tooba is said to be the largest single-dome mosque in the world. As you look at different parts of the mosque, you realize that it is a wonder in itself as the mosque does not have any pillars. Other than being frequented by worshippers five times a day, the mosque is visited by thousands of people daily who want to see for themselves this modern wonder of architecture and admire its beauty.
