Mahabat Khan Mosque

Completed in 1670 during Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan’s reign, Mahabat Khan Mosque is named after the then Governor of Peshawar, Mahabat Khan. The mosque has two functional and eight lofty minarets. The Sikh rulers used to hang prisoners from the minarets of Mahabat Khan Mosque. After the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, the Afghan tribal elders gathered in Mahabat Khan Mosque to unite Afghans against the Soviets. The grandeur of Mahabat Khan Mosque and its typical Mughal architectural style leave you awe-struck.
