Frere Hall

Situated in Saddar Town, Frere Hall lies close to several consulates and Sind Club. This British-era building was completed in 1865 as Karachi’s town hall. The building is named after Sir Henry Bartle Edward Frere, a former British administrator. After the creation of Pakistan, the name of the library located at the hall was changed to Liaquat National Library, in honour of the first prime minister of Pakistan, Liaquat Ali Khan. People visit Frere Hall to attend different exhibitions and events. Moreover, they visit the hall to use the library, one of the most extensive libraries in Karachi. Tourists throng this historic building because of its beautiful architecture and its critical and diverse role over centuries.
