Chairing Cross
A major road crossing in Lahore, Charing Cross, is another important landmark built by the British on Mall Road. Originally named after Charing Cross in London, the place has now been renamed Faisal Square. The bronze statue of Queen Victoria displayed at a marble pavilion until 1951 has long been replaced with a bronze replica of the Holy Quran. Apart from being a major crossing, different political parties have recently used Charing Cross to stage rallies.
