Chaburji

Chaburji, located on Multan Road and built in 1646 during Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan’s reign, was a gateway to a huge garden that was believed to have been destroyed during Emperor Aurangzeb’s flooding reign. Chaburji means ‘four pillars.’ In the 1960s, the Department of Archaeology repaired Chaburji, restoring one of the minarets devastated in an earthquake in 1846. People use their imaginations to imagine what the garden Chaburji served as a gateway may have been like now that it no longer exists. Art lovers visit Chaburji to capture the beauty of this historic monument in their cameras and minds.
