The most famous fort in Hunza is Baltit Fort, which is near the town of Karimabad. The ancient fort was built about 700 years ago. It is said that the fort was renovated by Baltit, a craftsman who came in dowry with a Balochi princess. It is preserved as a world heritage site by UNESCO. According to a UNESCO press release. "In its new use as a cultural center and museum, the Baltit Fort attracts thousands of visitors to the province and has contributed to reinvigorating the local community’s pride in their heritage."
