Badshahi Mosque
Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb ordered the construction of the Badshahi Mosque in 1671. It was completed in two years and opened in 1673. The most striking feature of this huge mosque is its proximity not only to the Walled City of Lahore but also some of the best-known monuments of Lahore, including Lahore Fort, Hazuri Bagh, Minar-e-Pakistan, Data Darbar, and Samadhi of Ranjit Singh, to name a few. Badshahi Mosque is one of the biggest mosques in the world. The mausoleum of Allama Iqbal, Pakistan’s national poet, is located in front of the Badshahi Mosque forecourt. Arguably one of the best tourist attractions of Pakistan, a visit to Badshahi Mosque fills you with a sense of calm reflection and religious purpose. Also, it is hard not to feel awe-stricken by this wonder of Mughal architectural achievements. Other than offering prayers at Badshahi Mosque, people visit the site to marvel at its wonderful architecture and experience the magnificent view of the nearby historical monuments it offers.
