Bab-e-Khyber
Built-in 1964 during General Ayub Khan’s reign, Bab-e-Khyber is one of Peshawar’s most important symbols. Bab-e-Khyber assumes greater significance because it is located at the entrance of the historic Khyber Pass. The picture of Bab-e-Khyber is printed on the ten-rupee Pakistani currency note. Bab-e-Khyber is translated as ‘the Khyber Gate’ in English. Standing at Bab-e-Khyber you can visualize how the eminent conquerors of the past marched into the subcontinent with their huge armies. People visit Bab-e-Khyber to be a part of history. They see this great gate to get more knowledge about the history of that place and the entire history of the subcontinent.
