Overview

Wadi Yassin is 148 kilometers from the main city of Gilgit. Moreover, the high mountain of Yasin Valley is located in the north of the main town of Gilgit. Additionally, It is known as Baba e Yasin or Worshigum. However, it is an unexplored treasure of natural beauty and rich culture. Wait to be uncovered by sightseers. It is a place of recreational and strategic interest. However, it is the gateway to the Yarkhun Valley via Broghil Pass in Chitralw which is also connected to the Wakhan Pass in Afghanistan and Tajikistan.

 

Wadi Yasin consists of Yasin Tehsil, which also contains several small and large villages. Generally, it is part of the Gupis-Yassin district of the Gilgit-Baltistan region.

 

Furthermore, the valley extends north to south and is connected to the Gupis Valley. It is located east of the city of Ishkoman, between 2,100 and 2,750 meters above sea level. The valley is wide and flat, well-irrigated, and relatively fertile, with irrigated fields on both sides of the river. 

 

However, there are no rough trails, which makes communication easy. Following the roads on both sides of the river, a branch road goes north into the Yasin River, and the remaining 25 kilometers reach the town of Yassin.

 

In Yasin Valley, tourists find sparkling lakes, peaceful green spaces, and snow-capped peaks to keep their enthusiasm high.

The best time to visit

The best time to visit Yasin Valley is from May to September. The valley shows vibrant colors in spring and autumn. Tourists love to see the unmatchable colors of nature at this time. 

 

However, Wadi Yasin is usually cold, and winters are especially harsh, with nighttime temperatures dropping to -15 degrees. These days are sunny, which makes the day pleasant.

 

Things you can do there?

One of the valley's most famous attractions is the Darkut area. From here Gilgit is connected to Chitral through the Broghil Valley via the Darkut Pass. This is a beautiful place throughout Yasin and the most popular tourist spot here. This is the confluence of the Thoi and the Dark River. 

Next, you can visit Sultanabad, a Union Council that consists of villages such as Chumrakhan, Taus, Barkhachi, Sultanabad (Mitt, Huyelti), Ghojalti, Sandi, Dalsandi, and Qorqolti valleys. However, Taus is the seat of this union council.

 

Wadi Yassin is a famous tourist destination. However, the tourism potential of the region needs to be further tapped.

 

How to get there? 

To get to Yasin Valley from Islamabad, One can take a PIA flight to Gilgit Airport or travel by road. From there Gilgit to Yasin is an enjoyable but narrow road that runs along the river. It takes 3 hr 31 min via Shandur on Gilgit Road to reach. However, the 4WD vehicle is a good choice.
