Pakistan's history encompasses it all

Pakistan's history encompasses it all -- from ancient Gandharan cities dating to 5th century BC through several millenniums of invasion and change through to modern times as a major nation on South Asia's human landscape.

The Gandhara civilization flourished during this period by the middle of 1st millennium AD under the rule of Greco-Bactrian Kingdom, followed by Indo-Greek Kingdom and Kushan Empire (1st-3rd c.). The Maurya Empire was established by Chandragupta Maurya in 321 BC after he defeated Seleucus I Nicator at the Battle of Ipsus, which brought an end to Macedonian rule in northwest India. It was then annexed by Chandragupta's son Bindusara who made it his capital city before establishing Gupta Dynasty (c.320-550) that lasted up until 665 AD when Harsha Vardhana overthrew them.

Pakistan experienced its own rulership throughout Muslim period beginning with Arab conquest in 712 AD until 1857 when British took over control. After independence from UK in 1947 India was divided into two countries separated only by Himalayas.
