Kartarpur Gurdwara

Kartarpur Gurdwara

Kartarpur Gurudwara (gateway of the guru) is located in Narowal district of Punjab, where Guru Nanak lived his last 18 years. It is the holiest place of Sikhism and 4.5 km away from the Indo-Pak border.  Guru Nanak established this Gurudwara in 1522, on the bank of the Ravi River. Although it was destroyed in the floods in 2004, it is restored by the government of Pakistan. The Sikh pilgrims, five thousand per day and ten thousand on special days, arrive for celebration from all over the world. The old memorable Langar (Guru ka Langar) tradition is also celebrated in this Gurudwara, in which Guru Nakan, whoever came, did not allow to go without eating. Meat is not served due to respect for the Gurudwara. This holy shrine has the potential to promote religious tourism. Undoubtedly, It is a historic move that kartapur is inaugurated on 9th November on the 550th birth of Guru Nanak Devji by Pakistan's government. The free visa policy by the government of Pakistan is an excellent welcoming act for the Sikh community.
