Margalla Hills which is an extension of the Himalayan mountain range is located in the northern part of Islamabad, Pakistan. These hills are a part of Margalla Hills National Park. These hills reside in an area of 12605 hectares and are a part of the Murree hills. The greenery and splendor of Margalla hills speak for itself that Pakistan is no less than any country when it comes to beauty.
The soil around the hills is fertile and for this reason is covered with herbaceous plants, scrubs, and green trees. This is the natural habitat of many birds and animals including wild animals like leopards, tigers, and monkeys. This place is most admirable for bird watching. Different species of birds including kites, vultures, falcons, hawks, doves, and buntings are seen here. Not just that around 54 species of butterflies are recorded here so far.
Several hiking trails from trail 1 to trail 7 are available here, with trails 3 and 5 being the most famous ones. Many spots of rock climbing are offered to tourists. Places that are present in the Margalla hills include Daman-e-Koh, Pir Sohawa, and Shahdara.
