Baghsar Lake - Samahni Valley
Baghsar lake is located in the Samahni Valley, Bhimber District, Azad Kashmir. It is situated at 975 meters above sea level and is roughly half a kilometer long. The area surrounding the lake is home to many local and migratory birds such as ducks and geese, along with water lilies and cheerh (pine) trees, as well as lily flowers. This area is also home to Mughal Fort, a four story structure of granite overlooking the lake from atop a hill. It has played important roles in different eras, such as the times of Ahmed Shah Abdali, Ranjit Singh, and Gulab Singh. It is believed that Mughal Emperor Jahangir, on his way back from the Kashmir Valley, fell ill and ultimately died in this fort. Baghsar is a popular tourist destination, and its natural beauty and historical significance make it an attractive spot to visit.
